Young Natalie Portman is terrific in this story of a hitman taking an orphan under his wing.

The story is about a trained assassin is reluctant to take care of his Neighbor, whose parents are killed. The girl is 12 years old and he teaches her his assassination trade. This movie stared of pretty damn cool if i must say, but when the assassin teams up with that 12 year old girl the movie be came light and soft and became a family movie until the shot out scenes. Gary Oldman plays a over the top villain but his such a good actor he pulled it over really well.

The Professional succeeds because of the charming, pretentious, and believable relationship between its two leads. The somewhat cliche corrupt cop storyline sometimes doesn't work, but the Portman-Reno plot holds everything together. A special mention should be made of the film's explosive and exciting conclusion.

A Solid film, that has become sort of a cult classic, in its initial release, it only grossed $19.5 million. Rent or buy this, a must see.

The relationship between young Portman and much older Reno (however odd it seems) is the heart of the film. This blends with the violence surprisingly well.

The Professional is a fantastic cation movie. Jean Reno is fantastic in this very violent, but also touching movie. Gary Oldman is also fantastic in this.

I really liked this movie...Jean Reno played the perfect milk loving, smooth and quiet assassin and Gary Oldman was equally as good as the psychotic drug crazed DEA agent gone bad...not to mention the limited but valuable screen time of veteran Danny Aiello and the introduction of Natalie Portman, who really made the whole thing work with a stunning performance in her first role. The action was great but it was definitely the acting chops of the three leads that made this movie so good. Those 3 couldn't have been casted better and it is why Leon comes in at #36......

Action: 3 / 3, Comedy: 1 / 2, Good vs Evil: 1 /1, Love/Sex: 1 / 1, Special Effects: 1 / 1, Plot: 1 / 1, Music: 1 / 1 = 90% or 9 / 10. Portman provides a sympathetic and starmaking performance while Reno is equally effective as the subdued hitman. The film moves brilliantly from the typical into it's own unequalled reality of crime and revenge.
