The great Paul Verhoeeven who brought us RoboCop, Total Recall, Starships troopers and we got this garage.

More tacky voyeurism from Paul Verhoeven and once again I found myself unable to tell if he's actually being serious or not. It's a run of the mill, rather predictable thriller only remarkable for the amount of flesh on show.

A suspense thriller with high ambitions. It only manages to show glimpses of what could've been great. An overly sexual endeavor that comes off sleazy, at times. Though, this aspect is entertaining, it still becomes overload. There exists little thrill in the story, because the turns never threw me off of my original assumption of the 'who-done-it' right from the very beginning. Good acting and directing managed to keep me slightly interested for the whole running time. But it turned out to be a mildly aggravating experience by the end.

Basic Instinct is an effective film that includes high amounts of Director Paul Verhoeven's trademark graphic sex and violence. This film is a true erotic thriller containing the infamous scene where Sharon Stone shows her vulva.
This film seems at first to be a classic mystery story. Hard edged cop Nick Curran (Michael Douglas) is on the trail of a woman who murders a famous rock star. Catherine Tramell (Sharon Stone) is his suspect, but as the story continues he isn't too convinced that she did the killing as he begins a sexual affair with her.
All nudity aside, this is Stone's film. She takes the classic femme fatale archetype and makes it her own, portraying Catherine Tramell as a genius author who enjoys mind games and lots of sex. Her chemistry with Michael Douglas is …
