Bizarre sci-fi/action/comedy that's got a tremendous cast but no structure or cohesive narrative to speak of. It's very self-consciously surreal, but never particularly funny and has no drama to speak of as the script writer seems to have just been making it up as he went.

Odd and wonderful. The adventures of buckaroo banzai is a true cult classic. An old time serial movie where the hero can do anything and everything. The movie is funny, kind of campy, and always interesting. I have forced many a nervous viewer to watch this movie and they have almost uniformly loved it. I only wish there had been a sequel!

Great actors and easily a classic for people who love the B type films. Comedy and Sci-fi mix is perfect. Buckaroo and his gang are extremely corny but are completely serious which makes for a great movie!

That's about all I got from this story. The plot and characters have little explanation, or cohesion. The tone is hard to figure out. Everything's all jumbled together without much sense. I'd be more forgiving if the film was completely comical, but it isn't. The strange mix of various elements makes the film skip around in a jarring way. Individual moments are very creative and inspired. The look and feel of the …
