The freshness and adventure of the first film isn't as bold in this sequel, but there are still enough creative cultural references and beautiful animation to keep it interesting and entertaining. Still a definite win for Dreamworks and an above average animated entry into a soon to be classic franchise.

'Shrek' was the anti-Disney fairytale movie that won many over with it's brashness and heart. 'Shrek 2' is more like a Disney fairytale story with a Shrek spin. The story and plot take a hit from this change-up, giving us typical character problem tropes that don't matter much in the end. There's also triple the amount of jokes this time. Some are hilarious, while others rely too much on references and randomness. There are still many great moments sprinkled throughout, mostly from the awesome new characters. A worthy, if not problematic, sequel.

This is where it's at. There are laughs coming from all the characters throughout the whole movie. There are also many movies it pokes fun at, which is cool. It is a lot of fun trying to figure out what movie they are teasing and stuff. Many of the same characters from Shrek are back and few new ones who add to the comedy. Puss-in-boots was a great addition. See it for yourself and you will have a good time. Don't worry about the bad stuff people have to say about it. They are just trying to be professional critics and take everything to seriously. Just sit back, relax and enjoy the movie. You will be laughing in no time.

Not impressed by the movie, so instead I will use this space to praise Pixar some more. While other animation studios crank out cheap, lame jokes laden with innuendo or cash in on previous successes *cough cough Dreamworks* Pixar continues to craft original stories with genuine humor and intelligence. They have integrity. And for that I respect them.
