A visually impressive and narratively intriguing origin story, "Iron Man" set a new standard in the modern age of superhero films, and Robert Downey Jr. absolutely nails the man under the iron suit.

This movie was boring to me. I didnt feel any connection with the characters. I also found Tony Stark to be unbearably annoying.

Tony Stark is a playboy-billionaire, who is also an engineering genius. He invents powerful and destructive weapons. But when Afghans got interested to his products, Stark finds himself trapped under these people to work on more weapons. But this life-changing experience makes him capable of making something more than missiles and bombs.

Call me a looser that I only watch this film when its third episode just released. I thought it was just another action-packed Marvel movie, but when I finally saw it, wow. This is awesome. It is fun, interesting, and certainly cool. Robert Downey Jr really got me with this. His character portrayal was that entertaining which would not leave one viewer unsatisfied. Also, I was surprised that a movie like this can pull off such decent twist.

Iron Man effectively marks the reign of Marvel's new, expanded universe. It's a smart version of a comic book film - based around likable and interesting characters, competent action sequences, and with the right mix of comedic timing and dramatic tension. Robert Downey Jr., in full-on career rejuvenation mode, anchors the film, presenting the perfect translation of Iron Man's sarcastic playboy alter ego. The film also features some fun turns from the supporting cast, including Gwyneth Paltrow as Tony Stark's coy assistant and director Favreau as Stark's bumbling driver. My one complaint would be that the villain, played by a gruff Jeff Bridges, isn't nearly as compelling as the film's hero and, as such, the final confrontation is lacking in energy, but this is certainly one of the …

"Iron Man" by Yojimbo

Playboy and weapons manufacturer Tony Stark is captured by terrorists and builds a robotic suit of armour to escape. When he returns to find his company has been selling it's arms to the bad guys, he sets about making things right. Iron Man was the first comic I bought as a kid, and I must say the big screen version really does do the character justice. Robert Downey Jr. does such a great job as Tony Stark, within 10 minutes I couldn't imagine anyone else playing the part. The suit looks fantastic and has a really cool manga-esque functionality about it. The action sequences are also really well staged, especially Iron Man's first "mission" in which he returns to take out the terrorist cell who imprisoned him, Iron Man coming across a super-cool, updated badass version of Robocop. The …
