The vision and story match with Dahl's book. However, Johnny Depp's Wonka couldn't be more out of place.

Willy Wonka, owner of a spectacular of a creppy chocolate factory, opens his doors to five lucky children who find a golden ticket. Charlie Bucket comes from a poor but loving family, and enters the factory along with four rotten children and their even worse parents. This has to be the worst reamke that I've even seen because the movie is way to weird and groofy.

To me, a great lover of the books, this was way better than the original. Dahl's books are dark and quirky like this movie! Johnny Depp hits just the right tone of awkward creepy friendliness. It also looks fantastic.

Pretty good film to me

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005) is such a wonderful and creative movie. I think it's a great film and a mostly masterpiece of Tim Burton. Mostly.
The characters were (for the most part) amazing, except for Willy Wonka. The acting was fine, except for Johnny Depp. His backstory made the chocolate factory and the kids feel like a subplot. I wasn't a big fan of it.
Bur the story was well adapted, for the most part. The bad kids were well developed along with their parents. The chocolate factory scenery was visually stunning, even though the chocolate room could have definitely been brighter. The parents were careless and didn't mind their kids acting rude, until they get into trouble. Then, they learned in the end to not let their kids get away with bad behavior and …

If i want to see an adaptation of any of my childhood favorite reads then i definatly want to hear that Tim Burton is the one who will direct them. Any of the books by legendary children's writer Roald Dahl were amongst my favorites as well as Mordecai Richler which makes me think as i type away here, speaking of Richler's work that it would be nice to see Burton's vision on 'Jacob Two Two Meets The Hooded Fang' yet another classic (well it was to me that is) that sat on my bookshelf as a child and was read quite often. Burton brings to life with CGI and brilliant eye candy backdrops the grounds and factory of the candy making madman known as Willy Wonka( played brilliantly by charector actor Johnny Depp) The cast chosen by Burton are as colorful as his scenery with Depp as Wonka, …

This is a remake of a movie that was a big part of my childhood. Well a big part in the respect that every teacher in my grade school when they ran out of ideas and decided to have a movie day would play the original. So I wasn't sure what to expect when this came out. I was kind of looking forward to it, but at the same time when I heard that Johnny Depp was going to play Willie Wonka I began to fear that the movie was going to be awful. Well when I am proven to be wrong on my first impression that is almost always a good thing, especailly in this case. The movie is a much closer adaptation of Roahl Dahls classic book. Johnny Depp did a much better performance than I had expected. Casting Deep Roy is the only Oompa Loompa made the idea of the movie far more interesting too, the effects …
