From the filmmaking, to the casting, and even the soundtrack, this feels like an authentic 80's film rather than a true western. 'Young Guns' is more of a showcase for the then young stars to strut their stuff and provide ample action. Though, that's not necessarily bad. It's still plenty enjoyable for those reasons. I just wish it had a little more to offer.

Yet another interchangeable and lame brat pack movie in which they swap high school for the old west. Cliched and trite, it's a bit like watching an extended 80s music video. Dumb.

I sincerely doubt the protagonists were as noble as portrayed here but hey it's simply aiming to be a 'shoot-em-up' adventure with Emilio Estevez, Charlie Sheen, Lou Diamond Philips, and Kiefer Sutherland playing pistol-packing cowboys with the maturity of fratboys.
It mostly does a good job at that but the pacing and editing are both terrible. Characters come and go;there are too many of them as it …
