One of the staple viewings of AMC channel's programming, this violent "Brat Pack" western is about Billy the Kid's gang of social outcasts turned outlaws as they reap vengeance on the Old West.
The attention to detail with the costumes and set design is impressive. Supposedly, it follows the historical account closely of WHAT happened but the question of WHY it happened remains dubious. I sincerely doubt the protagonists were as noble as portrayed here but hey it's simply aiming to be a 'shoot-em-up' adventure with Emilio Estevez, Charlie Sheen, Lou Diamond Philips, and Kiefer Sutherland playing pistol-packing cowboys with the maturity of fratboys.
It mostly does a good job at that but the pacing and editing are both terrible. Characters come and go;there are too many of them as it is. At one moment, the characters are under the influence of herbal remedies and speak like Brad Garrett. It goes on forever and ends up pointless. Meanwhile, we're supposed to take Sutherland's romance with a Chinese sex slave seriously despite them having only 60 seconds together at a time during their moments.
