The story is about a scientist who hates riding in cars develops a way to transport from one area to another with out traveling but his experiment goes wrong as he some how turns into a giant fly. the visual effect's and the make-up is gore and graphic but I love it.

A nice idea cribbed from a 50s Vincent Price film which deals with Cronenbergs favourite obsession with technology and corruption of the flesh. A little dated though, and more gory than scary.

The Fly is an unpleasant, but effective thriller. On the surface, it is a grotesque creature horror film (with some very convincing and unsettling gore effects), but Cronenberg also uses symbolism to show Goldblum's character's psychological decay and that part of the film is most interesting.

The absolute best horror remake I've ever seen. David Cronenberg's version of 'The Fly' is a dark, disgusting and fascinating sci-fi/horror tale that combines amazing practical effects with an emotionally tragic story. The ending packs a devastating punch. This is one wholly unforgettable movie.

David Cronenberg knows his craft. His brand of horror is the kind that makes the hairs on your neck stand up - it's a creeping, unnerving kind of scary. The Fly is just that - it keeps upping the tension and it pays off in the end.

In fact it is a great horror movie. The idea is hilarious, so, Cronenberg kind of hooks you out of curiosity. The ending with the bad guy getting what he deserves is plain disgusting and horrorific.

A great sci fi movie that doesn't bring too much action into it - and for good reason. Goldblum is the fly and does a fantastic job showing off his acting skills. A must see for all sci fi fans. The arm wrestling scene is perfect.
