A grim and gross movie with dark comedy mix with it. the story is about Five college age friends road trip to a remote location where they are slowly swallowed by an evil presence one by one. this movie is only a first time watch for me, The demons in the movie are scary and gross.

The budget limitations are obvious (the stop motion animation is particularly poor) but the ideas are here, and it's a triumph of independent film-making that it became such a success. The sequel which was a virtual remake, is much, much better though.

Edge of your seat gorefest with creative, amazing camera work/direction. Hard core horror on a low budget, and it works on every level.

Evil dead is creepy, but extremly fun horror film. Some of the most memorable horror scenes are in this movie. Atmosphere is awesome. Woods are unexplainable. Masks are creepy but also funny. Entire thing is great fun, intensive but also funny in some very creepy way. Film is very well directed. Evry shot was good and it really served well in creating atmosphere.

I know it might seem crazy that i'm almost 25 years old and I have never seen Evil Dead. Well it is crazy because I loved it. I'm a huge fan of Sam Rami and of course my man Bruce, why do I love this movie? if at all your a horror movie fan it's a must watch,it's old school gory kick ass horror and the kind of stuff that makes me miss older movies like this compared to most of the garbage that they put out in theatres.

Unlike the other films in the trilogy, this first film by Sam Raimi is short on the campy comedy and long on pure terror. Raimi doesn't hold back here, presenting brutal gore and a seemingly neverending series of "jump" scenes in what is a very atmospheric and scary horror film.

Much has been documented about the making of "The Evil dead" and how Sam Rami raised the meagre budget of $375,000. Its also fairly safe to say the cast and crew survived an almost torturous shoot that was to produce probably the biggest Horror cult film of all time. The Evil Dead is a masterpiece of gut churning terror defying its low budget roots by imaginative and truly unique direction by Rami. Almost 30yrs on the movie has lost none of its impact, its still extremely gory, its still gruesomely shocking and it still scares the living daylights out of anyone fool enough to watch it late into the night.
