More of a prophecy now than a hypothetical, "Contagion" has proven to be more tense and effective now than it was over a decade ago thanks to a COVID pandemic that showed how realistic it was.

This movie is like the one i watched recently on tv almost exactly the same about a unknown virus spreading and the rush to find a cure and the cause of the virus. the only difference between this and that tv movie movie is that this one has some high profile actors i.e matt damon/jude law/kate winslet. But not even the acting can save the movie from feeling like a made for tv production. its been done before quite a few times and done better. jude laws part was the only intresting aspect to the film . wait till it comes on tv is my advice .

Based on what friends were saying, i expected more. I get the concept but it didn't scare me enough to entertain me. None of the characters had enough screen time to fully develop their stories. This movie has been done in the past and will be done better in the future. Soderbergh has a knack for music selection and camerawork but he can't seem to make a good movie as of late.

This is a terrifying and heartfelt film - rooted in a bio-tragedy that feels all-too real. Soderbergh refuses to give the virus any sort of backstory (until the closing scenes), and instead immerses us in a snowballing disaster that grows to a global scale. The way the film switches quickly from storyline to storyline feels very immediate and keeps the pace of the film going, as the threat of infection grows. The film, however, also has great compassion for its characters and refuses to treat them as faceless victims (as a lesser director might have done.) Rather, the all-star cast each get their own moments of humanity amid a growing, very scary disaster.

Smart, tense and all-around well acted. The events are plausible and the characters are believable.

(WANRING: SLIGHT SPOILER ALERT)A hypochondriacs horror movie, Contagion analyses what kind of anarchy would happen if there was a global epidemic. The final 3 minutes are not as direct as one would gather, as there is a very subtle indication that maybe these epidemics are just another form of karma.

What you see in the trailer is not at all what you get when you watch the movie. For once however, this is for the benefit of the viewer. The movie is fairly realistic, showing what could really happen if an epidemic did occur in today's day and age. It uses its hugely famous cast in such well controlled ways. No one outshines anyone else. This movie is about people trying to survive plain and simple.

I was let down by this highly anticipated movie on my list. Being a fan of 28 Day Later, 28 Weeks Later, and other alike, I was hoping for another great movie in this category. Unfortunately I was let down. Matt Damon did a great job acting, but there was just something about the movie that made me feel more like I was watching a documentary, rather than being pulled into the movie and feeling what was happening. Overall a let down, but still worth a rental.
