I'm as surprised as most that this film manages to sustain it's running time and never bore. It's a one man show filled with suspense. For those reasons alone, I have to give it a good rating. It's not a great film, but it delivers as much as possible from it's unique premise.

The execution so desperately tries to conceal the fact that this film is simply pure gimmick... and, were the task not so Herculean, almost succeeds at it. Sadly, though, it was not meant to be.

"Buried" is film of combined survival and hostage drama of Paul Conroy (Ryan Reynolds) buried alive on the desert. I didn't expect much from this film. But it gave me more than I expected. The plot flows smoothly. It's just that seemed to be very unfortunate for Paul (I don't like the ending). The direction, I would say well done. Ok. So Ryan Reynolds huh? Compared with James Franco (127 hours) and Tom Hanks (Castaway), he need to perform much better to really carry such movie. But, I must say, not a bad attempt for Ryan Reynolds.

Surprisingly, *extremely* gripping. Very good acting, and amazing what's done in one tiny location. Heartbreaking ending. Some questions/holes but very gripping.

Not a bad film, though eventually it wears a little thin. Ryan Reynolds does a pretty good job of portraying a man who wakes up trapped in a coffin buried in the sand in the Middle East. Armed with a cell phone and a few other tools, he desperately tries to make his escape. It is a good set up but after awhile it got a little tedious, plus you pretty much know how this is going to end from the get-go, and sitting and waiting for it to happen isn't that entertaining. Good for Reynolds performance, but the script got a little tired.

A masterfully tense thriller that is unblinking in delivering a mixture of panic and terror. Ryan Reynolds is literally on screen the entire film and brings his A game with a realistic and very fear and frustration-driven performance. It's a testament to the filmmakers that a film with such a simple plot and location is never boring and actually crescendos into an intense conclusion.
