Almost as soon as it gets lift off, "Apollo 13" never stops being a tense and entertaining true story pic with special effects that still hold up.

A dramatic true to life film of various individuals with a goal consisting of astronaut Jim Lovell (Tom Hanks), Ken Mattingly (Gary Sinise), Fred Haise (Bill Paxton), Jack Swigert (Kevin Bacon) and Apollo 13 Flight Director Gene Kranz (Ed Harris). The movie kind of drags because it consists of trainings, technical jargon's and accidents. Performances all around were solid while the score and special effects made it entertaining. Apollo 13 is a worthy space film that can be enjoyed without expecting too much or anything groundbreaking.

The scenes in outer space are the highlight, but the story and characters do a good job of supporting them. One of the most memorable films of the 90's.

An apt exploration of what could possibly be the scariest situation that anyone could ever face: the possiblitity of dying in space, with absolutely no escape available. Before "Pandorum" and "Sunshine" and games like "Dead Space," there was a true, real, actual event that brought fear to us, that space is not a destination, but a hazardous road to places we want to visit. A grand directorial achievement for Ron Howard, and great performances all around (especially by Tom Hanks and Bill Paxton).

At times, the set-up for this film is a bit slow and long-winded, but once disaster strikes, the movie is pure tension and excitement. Top-notch performances from all involved and a GREAT soundtrack.

Although I respect the story its trying to tell, it can't save the fact that Apollo 13 is just kind of boring. It's a good film, but it's just not one I can find myself getting into all that much. To each his own.

Just doesn't get old. A great space race movie with top notch performances by Tom Hanks and Ed Harris. The tension and emotions that build up as the mission goes on is why this movie is so great to watch every time.

A good movie with good performances. The only problem I have with this movie is it's value...the second viewing didn't do anything for me. But what do you expect...it's a Howard movie...
