A great premise for a superhero satire that winds up only moderately entertaining. Will Smith is very good as the burned out cynical hero-in-name-only Hancock. The first half was an interesting take on the familiar comic book plot. But then that twist happens and things are freaking weird. It's more serious than the first section and that isn't much fun.

Starts out strong but gets worse and worse as it progresses. An inane plot twist in the middle sets the film up for failure in a big way, leaving an overall feeling of disappointment at what could have been an epic.

The story is about a cocky, looser like super hero who has been living under a rock lately finally brings himself back to reality when he starts dating the wife of his publicists. Much like like super man, he has super strength, super flying ability, and super intelligence. What he does not use is his heart. He has no motivation to continue to help the world until a special event happens. This movie started of cool with a drunk superhero but then the movie went soft and that's when it became unfunny.

One of Will Smith's weakest films. By the end the characters were undeveloped and boring.

Very good movie! Well, at first... I didn't like Charlize Theron in this film. I feel as if there could have been someone better to play her part. This is really the only complaint I have with the film itself. I applaud Will Smith's acting in this movie. I also love that Hancock is unlike other super heroes. A completely different twist! Love it.

Nice treatment of the superhero idea. Down in the dumps, boozing heavily, dressing badly, saving people and fighting crime. My favorite bit was when the train ran into Hancock and it instantly stopped. Really good special effects and a welcome relief from the usual superguy movie.

Different take on the 'Superman' style hero. The special effects are a backdrop to a decent story that just needed to be more fleshed out.

The movie could have been much better if the script and background of the characters were given much attention. Its idea was unique, effects were believable, and unfortunately the interest in the story dissolves towards the end. Even the fight scene was not that exhilarating. The humor was there, yet Hancock just doesn’t deliver the goods. The casts talent was just put to waste since Will Smith and Charlize Theron are good dramatic artists that are flexible enough to do comedy. If it weren’t for the humor, little action, and rare gist then it would have bombed.

The idea of a flawed super hero is intriguing, but the film botches it by covering it up with plot inconsistencies and grandiose special effects.
