Witty and well written social satire based around a high school election for class president. Think Heathers without homicide!

An entertaining and engrossing high school comedy like only Alexander Payne could make. The characters are nuanced and the comedy dark and often savage. All the main cast are playing against type, which is refreshing to see.

Had a unique premise in a dark comedy sort of way. Rarely can you see Reese Witherspoon as the antagonist on screen, Tracy Flick was really evil in a naughty way. Matthew Broderick does a good job as well as the immoral teacher trying to make things right in the school. Good performances all throughout with some really funny scenes. Entertaining, surprising and full of morale lessons from the flawed figures. Election definitely get's my vote.

Tracy Flick will always be one of those film characters that you will love and hate because people like her do exist. They're irritating yet you can't help but admire them for their willingness to be the best. I guess there's a Tracy Flick in all of us. At times, when placed in dire situations that can make or break our futures, we are willing to sabotage, lie, and cheat in order to win. It's what makes us human--survival of the fittest. This is an edgy, witty satire in so many levels--high school, politics, stereotypes. But I have to highlight the Coke/Pepsi joke that was introduced in the beginning of the film and appeared again in the end. Not to mention there's a lot of one-liners here that are worth quoting because they ring true and are timeless. This is the type of movie that you …

Tracy Flick(Reese Witherspoon) is a major over-achiever who is the only student running for class president in their student election. Jim McAllister(Matthew Broderick) is a very involved teacher who happens to be running the election. Sick of seeing Tracy Flick always get her way, he bribes Paul(Chris Klein), a dumb jock, to run against her. Tammy(Jessica Campbell) wants revenge on her brother for dating her girlfriend and runs against them both, turning this once choice election into a three choice catastrophe, with revenge, deceit, and sabotage at every corner.
Matthew Broderick, in a refreshing change of pace, scores a bullseye as the faculty member, who turns out to have a dark side you don't see coming and Chris Klein makes the most of his role as jock turned politician. Attention …
