This incredibly funny and original take on "cabin in the woods" horror completely remodels the sub-genre with a nutty premise involving conspiracy, human sacrifice, and a masterminded game of inputs and variables.

Highly original and a lot of fun. Starts out like your standard horror movie you have seen 1,000 times before, but soon turns into something completely different and remains highly entertaining right until the closing shot.

FIve college kids go to a remote cabin to party but find themselves the rats in a maze constructed by a mysterious group intent on their gruesome demises. The Cabin In The Woods is very much in Joss Whedon's familiar territory of ironic pastiche, featuring the usual gang of jocks, hotties and the gratuitous wise-cracking nerd going into the woods that hillbillies forgot to get murdered in various stereotypical ways. The big difference is in the way that the perpetrators are not the rent-a-zombies, but a kind of "Evil Incorporated" who are just a bunch of white collar, clock-punching schmos. The scenes below ground are by far the best with Bradley Whitford commenting on the proceedings like a kind of parody of Mystery Theatre 3000 as they crack wise while admiring their handiwork. I …

If this flick is anything it's unpredictable and that's a good thing cause originality these days in ole Hollyweird is extremly rare! I had no idea whatsoever that the events that i was about to see were gonna take place. I love horror films and have seen quite a few strictly for the gore factor (Yes im sorta crazy that way i guess?) have seen some that have actually scared the bejesus out of me (Paranormal Activity is one of them) and last but not least hardly any that shocked me, unpredictability wise as this one had. 5 colleg buds head up to one of their cousin's cabin in the woods. Sure...I know same ol same ol eh? Low and behold we then see a group of what look to be scientists in a lab who seem to be controlling what comes up against the 5 pals whilst up there. They also seem …

Fascinating how many people enjoyed this particular movie. This has the potential to be a cult classic in its own right. Dana (Kristen Connolly), Curt (Chris Hemsworth), Jules (Anna Hutchison), Marty (Fran Kranz), and Holden (Jesse Williams) go on a vacation in a cabin. On the downside, Some of the characters were irritating and plain boring. This reviewer felt the direction was going in different places. Humor was not that effective though the effects and gore were very believable. Performances were descent but the only thing interesting was the near conclusion, which really deviated to the plot's beginning. Call it a twist or suprise factor for audiences, it was still uneven. Cabin in the Woods is a horror flick mixed with fantasy and some disappointing deaths.
