Poor character development, conversations were dry but the locations were decent. Had some uninteresting antagonist, a lot of orders from the butlers, pace of the story was slow and it seems it takes forever for each scene to depict anything. It doesn't have that element where one would think or even care for the characters. Clearly one of the directors’ weakest outputs with a forgettable ending, Jamaica Inn overall disappoints.

Gosh, this movie was terribly bad. Hitch ruined this Daphne duMaurier book. I also didn't like his version of Rebecca, but he finally got his Daphne adaptation right with The Birds.
