This movie has all the bells and whistles you could ever ask for. I was never bored watching Stargate the movie. The acting and effects are the best. I will say I liked the first half of the movie the best, but the last part was very good.

A great idea is wasted in an overblown and underwritten sci-fi full of stereotypes and bog-standard plot devices. Even the brief and infrequent action sequences fail to ignite any excitement at all. Without Richard Dean Anderson's post modern wisecracking the whole idea just seems self important and dull.

A lackluster sci-fi film that doesn't have the same spark or magic as other similar films in the genre. What really brings the film down is the pacing, which is uneven, and often slow. Kurt Russell does an admirable job in the lead role, but the film's plot and script doesn't give him much to work with.

"Dr. Jackson" is joined by "Col. Jack O'Neil" (Kurt Russell) on the military side of the project. "O'Neil", who has been depressed since the accidental shooting death of his son, was recalled to duty to head up the project.

After "Dr. Jackson" figures out the hieroglyphs, the "StarGate" is activated and a probe is sent through. The on-board tracking system tracks the probe traveling to a distant side of …
