The love story adds nothing whatsoever, but the battle sequences are stunning. It's disappointing because scenes like that deserve to be in a better film. It's for that reason, and that reason alone, Pearl Harbor manages to be a decent movie.

Ben Affleck was terrible in this movie and the action was bad too and so was the story.

The half star is for the undeniably thrilling bombing sequence. The rest is an unbelievably trite, flag-waving soap opera that is a total insult to the intelligence.

A film of friendship, Rafe (Ben Affleck) and Danny (Josh Hartnett) become First Lieutenants in the United States Army Air Corps. Evelyn Johnson (Kate Beckinsale) become involved. On December 7 the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. A very lengthy film with a romantic angle and lack of historical accuracy despite its title. The movie focused on the characters instead of the significant event. Its main characters didn't have onscreen chemistry and the effects filled flick with action still spelled boredom. Aside from the CG, Cuba Gooding Jr. and Jon Voight were the only aspects of the film interesting. Pearl Harbor had potential if it was taken over by a better director.

Somehow, a love story set in the days before the attack is too much drama for me. Overall, an OK pic. Since we all know how December 7 went, the love story is supposed to be the grabber, I guess. Watchable.

Plays out more like a copy of 'Titanic' than it's own take on this historical event. Not much here besides the usual Michael Bay stuff. Way too long and overstuffed. The only shinning spot is the actual Pearl Harbor bombing set piece that is massive and explosion heavy.

There are fleeting glimpses at a respect for the historical events and material, but, mostly, Michael Bay is concerned with making the biggest action scenes possible. Sadly, this sucks a lot of the life out of the rest of the nearly three-hour-long film and a sappy romantic storyline doesn't help.

Horrible, bland and pretentious. This movie tries to be cinimatic beautiful and breathtaking when really it's just full of itself. It's a shame that a movie based on such events would have such a horrible outcome but then throw together love triangle just distracts from the actual story. The acting for the most part was horendus and over the top the entire movie is just over the top and full of itself. It's strives so hard to be Titanic but falls epically short.

A film which could and should be an hour shorter. When the attack on Pearl Harbor begins, there are some stunning moments of action, but around the event is a love story. We are supposed to care about the 3 people involved, and the film spends a lot of time trying to flesh out these characters but they remain as flat as they were on the script. There is just too much time spent on the love triangle that caring for the movie becomes increasingly difficult, and in the end, not very good.
