This movie was terrifying as a horror movie can get. I walked out with a bit of a lump in my throat from how much I gasped and was taken aback. Yes, gory and at some points rather absurd, this story drew much of the terror from the amount of claustrophobic shots and realistic, palpable scenes of pain. A great movie to watch when you wanna get close to that special someone you wanna scare the hell out of.

A great british horror movie.Starts well and slowly build up to the show down between the surviour and the monsters.Great use of the dark and small spaces making it very creep and at times making you squim in your seat. All performances from the all female cast are excellant and neil marshall is a man who knows he's horror gene. All in all one of those rare movies were yes you seen it all before but is done in a way that u hav'nt.

Like some have said, a very solid beginning with huge potential. But, by the end, the claustrophobia wears off and we are left with a vampire like movie. Better than many horror flicks I have seen recently, but could have been even better.

I was excited to see this move because it had gotten some good reviews. I like a good scary movie but this one left a lot to be desired. I never really connected with characters and the lighting was so dark that I never knew who was alive or dead. The first scene with the monsters was scary enough to make me jump but nothing to leave a lasting impression on me. I was expecting The Ring which had me freaked out that night when I went to bed still and thinking about it for a couple of days. Unfortunately all I got was a latter Friday The 13th.

One the most stupid and dumb movies I've ever wasted my time on. I think I may have laughed more (from the bad cast of women, dumb interactions and stupid plot) than I was scared. Do not waste your precious time on this really, really bad movie.

Im apparantly oblivious to how this was such a good movie. I love horror movies and went to this expecting it to be a good horror movie. Not only was i not impressed i almost walked out of the theatre. Which has only happened three times in my entire life

I was pleasantly surprised by this movie, as I approach most new horror flicks with relatively low expectations. My skepticism carried throughout the beginning of the film (the whole gossipy sleepover thing didn't do much for me), but the actual "descent" managed to keep me on the edge of my seat. I will echo that the UK version is better, but there's enough creepy cave-dwelling action to make this a worthwhile watch.

This is one of the worst and most disappointing movies I've ever seen.

Five adventurous women descend into the black unconscious, where they discover the murderous androgyny of the primative ID lurking beneath every chill chthonic pool. Horror in the tradition of H.P. Lovecraft -- with a smart, feminist prespective.

Another recent entry into the horror genre that takes fear of the dark and amps it up about fifty notches. The all-female cast is important as well; no scared little women these, they kick butt. That's why it's more fun when they break down
