Jack Black is as likable as usual in this dark comedy.

This movie shows the versatility of Jack Black. He can be serious, too! Interesting how it was presented in a "mock-umentary" style format with fake interviews, etc. I love that it was based on a true story. Makes you think of how quickly people can crack when under pressure!

Jack Black does a good job in this odd ball comedy. It has a few good plot twists and some funny scenes. It just isn't anything that I really laughed at. Worth a look though.

A really great little film. Jack Black is terrific; it's for sure the best performance of his career, but i don't think I was surprised by how great he truly was in this. He's one of the most underrated actors out there and this performance really shows that. It sort of reminded me of Philip Seymour Hoffman in Capote. McConaughey's win streak continues...he's really been on fire the past few years. Good script, great movie!

Jack Black has never been better as an assistant funeral director who is just a super-nice guy (maybe too nice) and Shirley MacLaine was a hoot as the battle axe of an old lady who takes full advantage of him. Throwing in actual interviews with the film is stroke of genius as well. Crazy but true - better words have never been spoken.

I can't believe I'm going to say this...... Jack Black was awesome in Bernie. This is the 1st ever Jack Black movie I watched where I didn't find him annoying at all (Except in Special Features) or end up hating him.Usually when I watch a Jack Black flick or a movie he's in I end up turning it off way before it's over & wonder why did I waste my time. With Bernie I was hooked right from the start.(Bernie was great!!) If Jack Black continues to do roles like this instead of playing an idiot in every movie then I might start to actually like the guy (I can't believe I said that as well)

This is a truthful and comical look into a real life incident. All of the main players (especially Jack Black) do a good job with the dramatization, but it's the interviews with real life friends and family that elevates the material and makes this film much more interesting. Their insight actually adds more comedy and makes this film's story stand out as surprisingly thoughtful, in an odd way.
