Even in this animated version of an existential western, Johnny Depp is undeniably charismatic.

A pet chameleon (Johnny Depp) accidentally falls of an owners car. The town mayor (Ned Beatty) appoints Rango as the new sheriff in town while Rattlesnake Jake (Bill Nighy) becomes a threat. Visually it was gorgeous and life-like, humor and with regard to the plot, falls short. As mentioned by previous reviewers, this animated and at times serious film is for adults. Pace of the beginning was sluggish and eventually moves once he declares his "legend." Western references even The Man With No Name surfaced. One of the best lines: "No man can walk out on his own story." Rango is a western animation that touches on the subject of believing in ones self while fate and luck plays a huge role in fulfilling his destiny.

The only animated film made in 2011 that I had any real interest in seeing. Despite the PG rating, it almost seems like it was made for an older crowd - plenty of innuendo and random references that only adults would get. Still, I thought it was pretty fun - not perfect, but worth time to watch.

well we rented this for a family movie night big mistake the first seen was him having an aquard discussion with a naked barbie doll about her breast size i should have known from there that this movie was not for my siblings let along myself but stupid me decided sence we paid for it we should finish it yet another big mistake i made on that night and have asked the lord to forgive me ever seince because the movie only got more sexual and then they started to swear'in a rather large amount i might add' it was just terrible and i regret not taking it back to blockbuster as soon as it started the crap in the first seen.

I was disappointed with this film. The story was mediocre and even tough I love Johnny Depp, he couldn't make up for the weak story and dialogue. Mostly, I was quite disturbed by the number of sexual innuendos in the film. It felt as if they didn't have enough ideas to keep it funny so they fell back on the old "throw in something nasty to make them laugh" technique. Would definitely not let children younger than teens see this film.

If you've not watched this film, you have to run to the movie store right now. This is my best animation so far, second not even to Megamind. Its plot is just the best and it is full of humor and action. Johnny Depp obviously outdid himself this time round. This is one of those films that you can watch over and over again and never get bored with it.

An instant classic. This film manages to navigate equal parts old-fashioned adventure film and homage to classic Westerns. The voice cast is impeccable, melting into the roles so that you can't even distinguish the actors behind the voices. The abstract and rough animation style is stunningly beautiful, also.

Rango is not what I imagined it would be. It was WAY better! Filled with action, comedy, romance & spectacular visual effects, Rango will keep everybody entertained. Reminiscent of old westerns, it is very creative with it's storyline & treats it's characters with warmth & care (even the bad guys). For an animated movie, the visuals are stunning. They are the second best animated visuals, in my opinion, to ever grace the big screen (first being 'Legend of the Guardians'). Now to the characters, they have heart. They too are quirky & are also very funny. The heroes & villains rival pixar's greatest, & I would even go as far as to say that 'Rango' is better than any of pixar's movies. And I mean it. 3.5/4, great!
