This bloody oversaturated action thriller boasts a great idea and goes all the way on the violence and sex. Except it becomes worn out halfway through and you're no longer surprised. Gerard Butler is a capable action lead (no surprise) and Michael C. Hall is fun as the villain at least.

Set in the future, Gamer sees humans controlling other humans in a real-life massive multi-player online games. The star of the game Slayers seeks his independence while attempting to bring down the mastermind behind it all. Gerard Butler and Michael C. Hall are the only good things in the movie but the movie is a mess and they are some many things wrong with it. The directors of the movie ( Mark Neveldine) (Brian Taylor) really can't directed at movie just look at ghost rider 2.

The premise could have been great in more capable hands. Unfortunately, the film is edited and directed with video game aesthetics in mind. Shots and scenes fly by so quickly, that you miss plot details (not that it matters - the plot is full of holes.) Even the action scenes are directed with so much moving cameras that it's difficult to tell what's going on. This is a low rent version of Running Man or any other survival genre films and it is far from being as captivating or suspenseful as those films.

A great idea with only mediocre execution. The idea that the future of gaming is controlling other people... not such a crazy idea. When it sticks to the game, this movie is good, outside of it? Meh. So almost good, but far from great.

Gamer may have A few good momets in it and it does feel like A FPS game that tunred into A decent movie to me Gamer seemed like it could have been alot better than they made it but hey thats the case with tons of films the action fun the story not so good basically it just was Death race with A dif format rent it

Gamer, while the blatant moments of rediculous nudity, was a rather good movie. It was made to distrub and mess with peoples minds, and it did so. At least for me. Yes, it was cheesy at points, but it was enjoyable action movie that made you think.

Gamer is kind of bizarre, normally I love bizarre, but this may have been a bit much for me. It was entertaining, but kind of difficult to rap one's head around.
