Empowering and never preachy, "Milk" highlights a fearless and influential human rights figure with a movie that holds a genuine indie-drama nuance.

Another biopic covering the socially important deeds of one man. Typical in format and execution, there's not much to be desired in the story besides the facts of the events that took place. The issues are worth learning, as they as still relevant today. Good acting from a great cast is the highlight.

I definitely don't want to watch Milk again. I thought it was a depressing film although it was good. Sean Penn is very good in his role. Overall I give Milk 3/4 stars or B.

Explores the life and career of Harvey Milk, who was the first openly gay man elected to public office in 1977 as a member San Francisco's Board of Supervisors. The acting, the writing and the story is what makes this movie great in many ways.

I absolutely loved it! Sean Penn gives the best performance of his career. He truly steps into the character and completely deserved his Oscar. Great cast. There were a few minor missteps here and there, particularly with some of the character development, but that does not hold this film back from being one of the absolute best films of 2008.

Gus Van Sant's biopic avoids the tendency to be cyclical, as most biopics are, and, instead focuses on the heart of the resilient and inspiring character of Harvey Milk. Milk is embodied by a completely engrossing performance by Penn, who gives the mayor a vivacity and passion that breathes life into the story.

As far as biographical pictures go, this one is pretty good. Sean Penn and Josh Brolin always make excellent movies. And, this on is no different. The story of the young man who calls Milk on the phone is particularly both heartbreaking and inspirational at the same time. Most bio pics fall into a situation where they have to either tell the boring truth about what happened, or take liberties with the story-line. But this movie didn't appear to do that. It was definitely worth watching.

Amazing movie. I have never seen a movie that has affected me so much. The movie tells a story about an amazing man by the name of Harvey Milk and how he strived to bring equal rights to all homosexuals. Scene after scene in this movie is just pure genuis! Everyone should watch this movie. Everybody should know who Harvey Milk is and what he contributated to our country. Bravo. Loved this movie and always will. Worth watching a million times.

A truly inspirational story that is lifted by the outstanding performance of Sean Penn. Biased individuals may avoid this film, but it should be seen by everyone because the message is that important.
