Jennifer Lawrence gives a stand out performance as a teenager fighting for answers while armed with nothing more than her will to survive and take care of what family she has left.

This film is about a 17-year-old Ozark girl must navigate a difficult world while tracking down her drug-dealing father and keeping her own family together. This movie got Gritty and got a little dark towards there end, But I thought this movie was a bit boring and I didn't remember much about the movie because I watched this movie days ago and I forgot most of it to be honest. The only good thing in this movie was Jennifer Lawrence and that's it.

"Winter's Bone" by Yojimbo

A 17 year old girl left to care for her family in dirt-poor rural Alabama goes in search of her absentee father when faced with the choice of either forcing him to appear before the court or losing their home. Winter's Bone, despite its detective story-style premise, has a flavour very much of a frontier western; take away the synthetic fabrics, pick-up trucks, indoor plumbing and narcotics of choice and you have a community whose life has probably remained pretty much unchanged in the last hundred years. It's a portrait of the struggles of living below the poverty line in contemporary rural America as Jennifer Lawrence's destitute but proud heroine explores the underbelly of her tightly knit but deeply dysfunctional extended family. It's a stark, bleak and gritty drama full of …

Seventeen-year-old Ree Dolly has a problem. She's stuck trying to manage a run-down household that consists of her ailing Mom, two younger siblings, an absent father, and no income to support them. That problem becomes minor when Ree learns that her meth-cooking Dad has put up their home and land for bail - and is now nowhere to be found. Things come to a head when Ree is told she has just days to produce Jessup (her father) or face eviction. She attempts to follow what little trail Jessup has left behind with no idea of the dangers that await her.
Winter's Bone is an independent film directed by Deborah Granik who shared screenwriting credits with Anne Rosellini, the latter also doing double duty as producer. The film is derived from the Daniel Woodrell novel that carries the same …
