This simply was not good. The screenplay wobbled, and I was tempted to just give up on it several times throughout. (Given the cast, this surprised me.) This is one that will be forgotten.

A great showcase for Michael Douglas, and several other actors get the chance to shine in supporting roles. Douglas plays a 50 something man who's pretty much screwed himself out of family, money, anything that matters all because he has the mentality of someone in his early 20s. Watching this film and waiting for Douglas to eventually (or maybe never) realize his limitations is enjoyable enough. It will be interesting to see if the awards season remembers this performance because it does rank as a strong one.

An average film that kind of petered out. It didn't have too many redeeming qualities. But, there is not much at the rental box now adays so this was adequate.

They could have improved the ending, since the character of Michael Douglas was not likable already. He was cast perfectly for the role, just felt the supporting cast would have been utilized more. You have Susan Sarandon, Danny DeVito and Mary-Louise Parker, and yet it focused on a single figure. Idea was good, the execution and cast wasn't. …
