The film is about a orphaned boy and his grandmother travel to England where, at a hotel, they stumble across a coven of witches who have a plan to turn all children into mice. This movie has a lot of nick picks and plot holes but the movie is one of my childhood favorite movie that I watched more then once, The make-up in the film is sickly and gross to look at and characters are enjoyable on the big screen.

A fun fable that finds the right tone between enchanting and scary. I feel people of different ages can enjoy this. I especially liked the make-up/effects. Well done, in all aspects.

In other words, The Witches doesn't hold back on being as dark as it needs to be- that is, until the unfortunate twist at the end that Dahl himself spoke publicly against.

As explained in the film, witches appear to be normal, and harmless-looking woman, but that's what makes them so hard to spot. Witches hate children, and will do anything to get rid of them. Few are …
