Not since "Pulp Fiction" has the crime thriller felt so structurally fresh. "Out of Sight" shows off its style and coolness, but has an interesting enough character dynamic between Clooney and Lopez to back it up.

Adapted from Elmore Leonard's novel of the same name, Out of Sight tells the love story of a chronic bank robber Jack Foley (George Clooney) and tough FBI agent Karen Sisco (Jennifer Lopez) who should in all practicality hate each other but instead find themselves uncontrollably drawn to one another. A flawless story line with interesting characters, Out of Sight is a smoothly directed by Steven Soderburg. The pace of the film, the music, the freeze-shots, all of them make this film to be very stylish and Clooney and Lopez have great chemistry. The explosive Dennis Farina, Don Cheadle, burly Ving Rhames, Luis Guzman, Steve Zahn and Albert Brooks also give good performances.

The romantic cat-and-mouse isn't always as believable as the shootout and chase scenes, but it does inject a level of humor and fun into what is otherwise a competent and effective thriller. George Clooney has never been more charismatic, which works to the film's favor, as he is playing a sometimes unlikable character.

Fun caper. Pretty clever, at times. The cast makes the movie.

A poor version of The Town. Very similar premise and more female leads. Clooney and Lopez shine in their respective roles as Jack Foley and Marshall Karen Sisco. A sexy crime comedy that is cleverly written and well directed by the Traffic genius. Supporting cast was endearing but I felt the conclusion could have been better. Out of Sight is one those films you feel like watching if you are in the mood for dialogue, physical comedy and entertained by mere dialogue alone.

Out of Sight has that abhorrent mix of dryness and insufferable condolence found in most independent American productions. These sorts of comedy-noir films are excellent when there is a fiendish strain of macabre farce to compliment their Chandleresque dialogue, but when there isn't, the whole affair is rendered vapid and perfunctory (especially in regards to the performances of it's actors); and, boy howdy, the only things that are blander than 'Out of Sight's performances are its visuals!

A pretty good crime/action film that works mostly because leads George Clooney and Jennifer Lopez are great together and the supporting cast is likewise excellent. It may not have been big in theaters, but it's worth checking out.
