It has a very enthralling story. Judi Dench and Cate Blanchett should star in every movie.

This movie had me on the edge of my seat. What if I had seen a grown woman having an affair with a young student? What would I do? If i was a crazy, obsessive old woman, I would use it for a premise for friendship. Alas, that is just what Judi Dench did in this intense thriller. Cate Blanchett was incredible, as was the terrifying Judi Dench. Bill Nighy made me weep when he discovered what was going on, and the ending is to die for! Literally.

This is a wonderfully disturbing drama. Very well acted, it sucks you in like a car wreck that you can't pull away from. Dench is fantastic as the creepy, manipulative and emotionally disturbed villain. I loved it!

This drama has some undernourished subplots, but Judi Dench is devilishly good and the direction is crisp and the writing is sly. Final Grade: B

It is rare that I have no idea what a movie is about before I watch it. I went into this movie completely blind having no idea what I was in for. I was nicely surprised. The story is interesting, never completly revealing itself, and Judi Dench gives a wonderfully wicked performance. I wouldn't say this movie broke any new ground or anything, but it was a nice hour and a half of entertainment.

I thought this movie wouldn't be as interesting as it was. However, it's one of the best movies I've seen ALL MONTH. Performances are excellent and the story is constructed very well. It's not just about the two women; the minor characters are also very alive. Bill Nighy is usually good, but he stands out here. He is able to be very angry and yet very restrained. I was watching another movie where Nick Nolte thought that being angry meant yelling and yelling at the top pof his lungs. Jane Fonda does this too and it annoys the heck outta me. So anyway, Bill Nighy was perfect. And I'm not saying this just because he's old and creepy too. Eh!

With the recent teacher student relationships, this is a decent showing on what can go on. It has good music, great acting, and a newer story. Though not totally interesting and never great it is just a good movie. No rewatch value.
