The Coen Brothers have truly created a modern western masterpiece of a film. This film had me from start to finish with its brutal, realistic violence and the terrifying performance of Javier Bardem as the villain. This is the best film of 2007 and surely deserves the Best Picture award at the Oscars.

The best movie of the year. Yes, Tommy Lee Jones's babbling at the end ruins the film a bit, but, that should not deter people from giving this it's due. Brilliantlly shot, acted, edited, etc...

Thankfully, this is the Coen Bros.' return to cinema. Their Billy Willderesque hints to the audience and Javier Bardem's gift to play a psychopath make it worth seeing. I do think that too many people have jumped on the band wagon raving about this movie and it is not my personal favorite of theirs. Probably my third or fourth favorite, next to Fargo, Hudsucker Proxy, and maybe the Big Lebowski. Josh Brolin and his dumb-ass-but-sweet-wife make some of the most terrible decisions known to man. The movie is full of sweet surprises and really close calls. I'd also like to comment that I was more impressed than usual with Woody Harrelson's role.

[update] I saw this movie again - same opinion. Too many characters disappear and not enough explained. Just because the flow is different than a typical movie does not make it great. I expected more the second time and it was worse.

This movie had so much going for it until the end. The ending is one of the worst ever and I would not recommend this movie because of it. If you like endings that leave everything left unsaid than this is....

Just a masterful film. The Coen Bros proved they still have it after a couple poor outings. Everything is supurb in this frilm from the tight editing to the dark comedy. This movie reminded me so much of the Coen's best work in Fargo. If this isn't a Best Picture nominee, I can't wait to see what is.
