Started off quite nicely actually, but about a third of the way through it drops off dramatically. Dreadful script, annoying characters, and a weak ending...Not the worst movie I've ever seen, there are certainly some things I enjoyed since I did finish the film, but not a good horror film by any means.

I'm not sure why most of the people on here are giving this movie such a bad rating, this movie is underrated and has got one of the best horror icons in today's generation. Most horror movies suck today, all those PG-13 bullshit films. This horror flick, directed by Victor Salva was just amazing, and brought back the suspense that horror should have! This movie was intense the first time I saw it on TV back in 2002, now I own both this and the sequel on a double feature DVD from MGM. The Creeper is a great character, and is one of my favorite coming after Michael Myers and Jason Voorhees.

A scary setup and intriguing first half followed by a mediocre second half. I liked where it was going, but where it eventually ended up was disappointing.

It had potential until you discover the killer is a demon and not a real person -- then it just got silly.

The first part of this movie is actually pretty intense and riveting, but after the film moves off the road, it turns into another boogey-man's-gonna getcha, teens-in-peril, run-of-the-mill "horror" film. Nice try, bad result.
