"American Sniper" by Yojimbo

Based upon the best selling autobiography by Navy SEAL Chris Kyle, American sniper is an account of his tours of duty in Iraq and struggles with adjusting to life outside of the military.
It comes as no surprise that this film is based on Kyle's own account of his life as the story it tells seems very one-sided. Having read of the accusations that Kyle's body count was so high because he systematically failed to make the distinction between combatants and civilians and that he was a borderline sociopath, this film seems beyond rose-tinted. It makes no attempt whatsoever to address these claims and we learn absolutely nothing about his killer or why he did what he did beyond a couple of lines of text saying that Kyle was killed by a "veteran he was trying to help". Which happens off …

American Sniper - The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

I was surprised by how much controversy has arisen because of this film and its related content. So the main character is a sniper that's killed 160 people? Big deal, he's a soldier it's a part of their job to kill people in the end! So it's set during the Iraq War? Big deal, the American intervention in the Middle East is our generation's war and war films are always being made about the concurring conflict of the era.
By the way, neither plays a large role in the story as it is. It's Chris Kyle's story not that of the Iraq War or the army in general. It's not that big in scope and yet by focusing on this one exceptional individual it helps to make this intensely controversial and complicated operation abit more relatable, especially in regards to American veterans.
So is the movie …

American Sniper review

"Do you ever think that... you might have seen things or... done some things over there that you wish you hadn't?" The sotyr revolves around the life of Chris Kyle. It was very detailed so the character development was exceptional. Camera direction was superb as always coming from Eastwood even with once shot as if the camera was shot as well with bullets going thru for that added realism. The supporting cast was great and it all boils down to the acting of Bradley Cooper. Screenplay was outstanding with lines such as "If you think that this war isn't changing you you're wrong. You can only circle the flames so long" "eed you... to be human again." and "There are three types of people in this world: sheep, wolves, and sheepdogs." This was very entertaining from start to finish …

A film that's been nominated for best picture at the Oscars and also has a lot of controversy behind it, that's a lot to take in for a movie studio.

American Sniper tell the story of Chris Kyle played by Bradley Cooper. Chris was the most lethal sniper in U.S. military history. But there was much more to this true American hero than his skill with a rifle. U.S. Navy SEAL sniper Chris Kyle is sent to Iraq with only one mission: to protect his brothers-in-arms. His pinpoint accuracy saves countless lives on the battlefield and, as stories of his courageous exploits spread, he earns the nickname "Legend." However, his reputation is also growing behind enemy lines, putting a price on his head and making him a prime target of insurgents. Despite the danger, as well as the toll on his …

Directed by Clint eastwood This is based on the real life of Chris kyle who was a navy seal and held the record for most amount of kills in the recent wars iraq. killing apparently over 200 people as a sniper.
Bradley cooper plays Chris kyle and does a fine job. very different to his other roles. and only adds to his list of great acting roles he has done in recent years.
The movie starts with chris kyle as a cowboy who see's the 9/11 twin towers falling on the news and enlists and becomes a navy seal. he meets a pretty girl gets married and gets sent to iraq. the film then follows him on his various tours of iraq and a little of his relationship with his wife when he returns each time.
There's a lot of tension in this film its very well made and acted. and keeps you interested …

'American Sniper' is the prime example of the absolute typical biopic done true to form. I won't sugar coat this review. The film takes the easy route in telling it's story. Things are presented mostly in black-and-white when it comes to the issues of war and heroism, as well as the politics involved. The movie is more interested in portraying Chris Kyle as a hero, rather than exploring the many avenues involved with the way soldiering had changed him. Sure, we get short scenes of his PTSD on the return home, a few one-off lines of other soldiers questioning the importance of the Iraq war to him, and a little bit of his actual thoughts on the morals of his actions. But those are only bite sized morsels sprinkled in to give us a taste of what could have been. The drama that exists …

One Shot. One Kill. One Amazing Life.

Clint Eastwood has proven himself a talented director, but, let's face it, his track record of late has been spotty to say the least. Yet thanks to the efforts of Eastwood, along with a hefty dose of help from producer/actor Bradley Cooper, American Sniper may be the best movie yet from the director - and is certainly deserving of all the accolades it has received.

Cooper originally bought the rights to the film, based on the life story of Chris Kyle, with the intention of only producing (not starring) in the film. But I'm glad he had a change of heart. Cooper has proven in the past, with films like Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle - that he is willing to transform himself for a role. But as Kyle, he gives his best performance to date. He bulked up for the role, worked on …
