Missing most of the original's heart and all of its humor, this "Evil Dead" is more akin to the trendy splatter fests of its own age rather than the innovative Sam Raimi franchise of the 80s.

Certainly more over-the-top and violent than the original Evil Dead, but Fede Alvarez is obviously a big fan as he throws in many references and call-backs to Sam Raimi's cult classic. While there is such a thing as too much blood, overall I was happy with the result. While it will never replace the original, it does well to stand on its own.

Much better than the original, intense and one of the bloodiest and most violent movies ever made. Not for the faint of heart, but if you like horror movies, this is pretty much as good as it gets.

Best horror i have seen in years, most horror movies in recent times have been boring and predictable. but this remake is top notch , its made very well and does what its meant to. which is make you jump make you turn away and keep you interested right until the very end. There's no sillyness like a lot of horror movies . if you like horror movies and want to see a very good one then this is a must.

This is a well directed remake. It manages to be reminiscent of the original Evil Dead, while cutting out it's own path. And 'cutting' is what it does best. There is copious amounts of blood/gore present and all of it looks painful. Most all of the violence is sick, dirty, wince-inducing stuff. Despite the initial plot and characters being completely cliche riddled fare, there are a handful of surprises. The experience was enjoyable, because of all the instant crowd reaction. The film perfectly strides the line of being fun and crazy, while maintaining a tense and grueling atmosphere.

A rare remake that's not only crafted with great care, but elevates the original material and subverts expectations. A disorienting, overwhelming, and absolutely relentless horror success. And, oh yes, this is indeed not for a the faint of heart. You'll feel like you'll need to shower off your blood splattered body once it's over. I can't go into much without spoiling it, and it's best going into knowing as little as possible. Some purists of the original may be disappointed, but I found it to be superior. And how often can you say that about a horror remake?
