Gripping, tense, and real. One of the best Iraq war set films and easily worthy of it's 'Best Picture' win.

To be honest, this movie was a very normal movie to me, I still can't understand why the big talk about it or why people are so impressed by it, OK the cinematography was good, direction was not bad, But I can't consider a pure American movie that represent the story from only one side is truly correct, Just to show these great Heroes who fight on the far side of the battle struggling to survive and live every day like it's their last, again ..... taking it from an artistry perspective it was good, but considering the message behind it....I'll disagree with that since doesn't show you the full story.

This film was very well done, and quite an eye opener. The cast was very good, and the storyline was quite strong, and kept you interested. This was the 1st well done film that referenced the current war in Iraq, and the struggles that are occuring over there. The graphic reality did a nice job of capturing the situation and taking the viewer into the streets of Baghdad. Overall, I felt the cinemetography was very good, and the plot strong. At the same time, the film was a little hard to follow at times and was a bit on the violent side by nature.

It may not be the best war film, heck, it may not be the best Iraq war film, but it has some outstanding performances and a gripping story line. If you like drama and serious tension, this should be intense enough for you.

I noticed some are comparing this to Jarhead, their is no comparison. Jeremy Renner wasn't as great as some think, but the movie was great. And, my wife liked it, and if she liked it, you know it was good because she doesn't like much.

Seriously? People are calling this the Slumdog of 2009? I don't think so. It is a good movie but I don't think it is Oscar worthy. Solid at best with Jarhead crushing this movie in terms of Desert war movies.

saw the hurt locker and liked it but not to an extreme amount. The flaws I saw in it were few but there. One being the main hero did standard action movie cliche of not using the safe method instead using the "cool" method (not using the robot. Also the film had the cameos from known actors which I thought were distracting because they showed up just to be killed, which was almost like the stars aren't safe therefore the main characters are not. Finally there were too many middle eastern characters who acted like psychopaths for no reason namely that taxi driver. Overall though the film was properly intense and well done in that way but in the end it could have used less cliches.

Arguably the best movie so far in 2009 and the best war movie since Saving Private Ryan. Check out the Hurt Locker, it's worth the watch.
