"The Informant!" skirts by on its cheeky tone and Matt Damon's undeniably charismatic performance, even if its satire feels less insightful than it should be.

Ironically funny tale based on a real situation. The film takes a tongue-in-cheek approach to the incompetence of which the situation was handled, complete with amusing music cues and casting of some comedic performers. Damon's acting turn is quite good, especially his character's quirky inner narration.

It's Matt Damon in a different kind of role, but it works. This film is strange bird - you think it's a comedy, but then it pulls the rug out from under you. I don't know if I want to applaud the fraud or punch him in the face. The music and voice overs are hilariously inappropriate, but somehow fit perfectly.

An okay film but it kind of works well at the beginning where the comedy mood and comedy score for sure work. Later though when the film changes tone very very heavily the comedy style stops working too well. This film is kind of enjoyable but later it get kind of strange and the comedy no longer works very well. Plus the overall story prattles on a bit much with similar situations occurring over and over again.

The Informant! has a strong cast and a solid first hour, but the mood quickly shifts halfway through to the point of frustration due to constant twists and changes. Matt Damon carries the film well, he's pretty funny and his characterization of Mark Whitacre, employee-turned-informant is pretty good and believable. Sadly the script fails him in the second half and I got exhausted trying to keep up with it.

The movie has a great mood all away through and it just keeps getting better and better towards the end. I loved the ironic feel of the movie and Matt Damon does one his best performances as a corporate whistle-blower.
