Rich with themes like the mountain setting is rich with gold, "The Treasure of the Sierra Madre" is a tale of greed that will forever be cemented as a classic.

What I believed to be just a treasure hunting adventure became much more. The story encompasses most movie troupes we come to expect from this type of genre offering, but nothing ever plays out the way in which we expect. Every turn presents a new problem for the characters. Though, no problem is more prevalent than the power struggle between the main three. Greed and paranoia overpower their moral logic. Bogart's character becomes the most affected. This is one of his best performances.

A little long, but otherwise a good film. Bogart is great as the man whom the gold turns mad. Yes, this is a good adventure film, but I think it's an even better film about greed and what greed can do to the mind. I don't know how Bogart wasn't even nominated for an Academy Award. It just doesn't make sense.

A memorable and nuanced portrayal of greed and obsession. I would argue that this is one of Humphrey Bogart's best performances and the gritty direction and cinematography really adds a layer of sweat and grime to this frantic tale, which makes it hit home all the harder.

So this is what adventure feels like!!. Humphrey Bogart is on the hunt for gold with 2 friends, but once they find it, will there friendships remain? or will the greed of man pull them apart like warm bread. This really is such a good film. Long, at over 2 hours, but not long enough. If you want to know what all the fuss is about Bogart, forget Casablanca, just watch this.

You can't go wrong with a classic adventure. Gold does strange things to men and men do strange things for gold. Watch tension build as the gold piles up, not to mention all those stinking bandits on the loose. You won't be disappointed.

The best gold search movie of all time (well, maybe ?The Goonies? is better). This movie has a lot of really good scenes with Bogart at his best, recommended for classic adventure lovers.
