An overly familiar hostage action/drama bolstered by the charisma of it's two stars. It's all very formulaic but watchable enough.

The commanding performances by the lead cast elevate this thriller to an exciting and interesting rollercoaster ride. Samuel L. Jackson is best at playing a desperate man and here, the script smartly continues to elevate the stakes to seemingly insurmountable heights. It's a little farfetched at times, but it never loses its entertainment value.

The Negotiator is a great action mystery. I feel it does not get a lot of recognition, but the story is very good. Samuel L. Jackson and Kevin Spacey are great in all their scenes together. Their dialogue in this movie are great. The side characters are also well acted and interesting.
