While we don't get deep into Elvis the man, we do get an excellent portrayal of Elvis the legend - along with a healthy dose of snow job extraordinaire "Colonel" Tom Parker. Austin Butler is excellent as Elvis from his youth to his last days in Vegas and I can see the commitment he brought. Tom Hanks is just as good (even with a questionable accent) as a fat-enhanced Parker. The music is rocking and it hits a few deeper beats but overall, it's just an enjoyable biopic.

Baz Luhrmann is more interested in Elvis the myth than Elvis the man, but his broad, glitzy, and well-acted biopic is entertaining and energetic enough to be worthy of honoring The King.
