A terrific end to the Skywalker saga featuring breathless pacing and action, plenty of humor and fun, brilliant technical credits across the board, a very good story, solid acting, tons of nostalgia, and a perfect ending. I loved every minute of it. One of the best movies of the series.

A pacifying but dissatisfying grand finale, "The Rise of Skywalker" ends on a solid note, but the road getting there is roughed by its overly convenient plot.

Lightsaber!

“Do it!”

I’m surprised they added that in there despite all the memes.

Anyway…

A long time ago...four years to be distinct; the space opera ‘Star Wars’ returned to cinemas with ‘The Force Awakens', that brought back the bittersweet experience that fans have been craving for over 30 years. Well lets just say Christmas was magical that year. While I wasn’t quite as wowed as everyone else, but I still enjoyed it otherwise and I was interested where the story will go after J.J. Abrams left his “mystery box” of questions for another director to answer. How exciting and epic the next years will be.

And then the sequel and two spin-offs happened. Well lets just say my interest for these new movies has completely evaporated. Sad times indeed. And no I don’t feel …

Skywalker Saga Comes to a Fitting, if Uneven, End

The grand conclusion to the Star Wars saga serves as an admirable, if somewhat underwhelming, conclusion to the most popular sci-fi series of the modern era. If J.J. Abrams didn't focus so much effort on trying to "fix" Rian Johnson's Last Jedi, I think if could have turned out to be a better ending but, for what it's worth, it still manages to create some interesting character arcs and is still a lot of fun.

While I avoided all spoilers going into the film, I didn't avoid the critical reception, which, aside from the Phantom Menace, was the lowest score for a Star Wars film. Much of the criticism wasn't that the overall film was bad - just disappointing and while I'm not quite as disappointed as some reviewers (and obviously some audience members) I do agree that Abrams …

"Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker" by Yojimbo

An old enemy returns to threaten the galaxy leading what remains of the rebel alliance to search for clues as to their whereabouts and prevent the rise of a new Empire.

In a not unexpected move, the final part of the current trilogy elects to dump pretty much the entire narrative introduced by Rian Johnson in his poorly received second instalment as J. J. Abrams returns to try and get his original vision back on track. Although he does manage to rekindle some of the magic lost by the somewhat turgid second film, it does feel a little more like an exercise in damage limitation than a vision fully realized. All of the best moments are provided by Adam Driver’s Kylo Ren and only his story arc feels truly satisfying. Rey seems more buffeted by circumstance – and rogue script writers …

My Box Office Prediction

Opening: $142 Million
Domestic: $397 Million
Overseas: $673 Million
Worldwide: $1,070 Billion

My Say: It is very hard to predict this film’s performance because of how much fans hated The Last Jedi and are still mad about the film, and how badly Solo bombed at the box office. But it should do decent numbers I guess.
