Boring 'cops vs drug dealers' plot coupled with bland characters makes TEQUILA SUNRISE a tough sit. But hey, it looks pretty. Plus Raul Julia actually livens up the picture once he arrives onscreen, seemingly from a different but far more entertaining movie.

Dale (Mel Gibson) is (or was) a drug dealer who has decided to go straight but his good friend, narcotics enforcer, Nick (Kurt Russell) believes otherwise especially when the police gets the tip that a big figure in the drug business, Carlos is coming to town with a stash of cocaine.
Meanwhile Dale has fallen for the gorgeous owner, Jo Ann (Michelle Pfeiffer) of a fancy restaurant where the drugs are being sold and so she comes under suspicion as well. Nick decides to turn the charm on to find out how involved she is with Dale and the drugs.
J.T. Walsh is satisfactory in his role of the DEA agent sent in to head the investigation who wants Dale’s head at any price and is willing to go through Nick if he has to. Mel Gibson and Kurt Russell added lots of good humor to this as well …
