The second coming of Stagecoach. Just down under!

Having just watched Mad Max: Fury Road and being subjected to a nonstop adrenaline rush of visual splendor and poetic chaos, I'll admit that at first I was feeling sorely disappointed in the comparatively slower pace of The Road Warrior. But in place of nonstop action, it has an arguably better plot-though not because it's more complicated as modern filmmakers often confuse for 'better'. Instead, it takes time to develop its cast, from a growling wild child to even the villains like the gigantic but surprisingly eloquent Lord Humungous and the vile Wez (same guy that played Bennett from Commando). My favorite character was Bruce Spence as a conniving and wisecracking autogyro pilot.
Even more than Fury Road, The Road Warrior recalls the westerns of old and borrows the very same basic …

The best of the Max films

One of the best sequels to an original story ever made... Loved the cinematic backdrop to director George Miller's 'post apocalyptic' vision that portrays one thing that might come true in the near future..the fight for gasoline. After losing pretty much his whole world and becoming a 'shell of a man' in 'Mad Max' he now spends his days much like all the other nuclear war survivers and that is searching for food and gas. Now joined by a little dog as a sidekick, he runs into a band of survivors who are in posession of a tanker of gas and drilling cranes. This band constantly are fighting off a band of no do gooders (who resemble a huge punk band of the 80's) lead by the muscular protagonist 'Humungous' (charector looks much like Jason Voorheese on steroids). Anyhow Max decides to help …

"The Humungus," a leader of marauders, request the settlers to walk away. Max (Mel Gibson) makes a deal with the settlers in exchange for his car. The first installment had more emotion while this one compensates with the stunts and action sequences. Descent screenplay killed it though it had a few nice lines - “We fight for our belief, I stay.” “We haven’t given up, we’re human beings.” A better plot and likable characters would have been made the film ranked higher by this reviewer. The picture had a grand score which added to the climactic scenes. Final road scenes were the best, if only it concluded in a more obtainable manner instead of bringing in the mystery again much like the opening remarks. Mad Max 2 is one of that rarest of breeds; a sequel that actually surpasses the original. Like Desperado and Evil Dead 2, it is a big budget reinvention of the previous film rather than a true sequel per se. Mad Max was a powerful if flawed film that never quite lived up to the promise of its explosive action sequences. Once again, the film opens with an exhilarating hi-octane chase as Gibson's post apocalyptic man with no name stumbles upon an oasis of civilization under siege from a group of road predators. The film almost resembles a zombie film, except in this future where gasoline and ammunition are worth more than human life, the human race are being preyed upon not by undead monsters, but other human beings.
