A pure right-in-your-face hard-hitting actionmovie

Well, this was a pure right-in-your-face hard-hitting action-movie like a good action movie should be. If I want to watch an action movie then I expect … yes how could you guess it … a lot of ACTION! Not a complicated twisted story with plot twists in such a way that you hopelessly lose the thread, but perfectly depicted combats and gunfights with realistic victims (stacked in packages of 10). I can’t judge whether it’s actually realistic or not because I’ve never been in the middle of such a situation.

“Olympus has fallen” is simply a put-your-mind-to-zero and don’t-pay-close-attention-or-you’ll-see-the-mistakes movie! Nakatomi Plaza has been replaced by the White House, the Germans have been replaced by cruel North Koreans and McClane is Mike Banning (Gerard …

Well, the usual stuff, north-korean terrorists attack the White House and take the President (Aaron Eckhart), the vice-president and other important person hostage. Only a single Secret Service agent, Mike Banning (Gerard Butler) is still in there and tries to get the president -with some help of the army generals and Mr. Speaker (MORGAN FREEMAN)- out of there...

This is an over-the-top action movie, it really is. No thinking. No asking. No "Is that even possible?"
And I dislike them. In my opinion they are wasted time. All the time the same, shooting, fist-fighting, often using the f-word and ,especially in this movie, the patriotism of AMERICA! I, as non-american hat to see that.
The acting of this movie was good. Butler, Eckhart, Freeman that's a good cast. The script was O.K. …

The film starts with a healthy relationship between Secret Service Mike Banning (Gerard Butler) and President Benjamin Asher (Aaron Eckhart). First Lady Margaret Asher (Ashley Judd) passes away from a freak accident. Allan Trumbull (Morgan Freeman), the Speaker of the House, will play a role once the White House is taken over by terrorists. Sounds like a great plot, however, unfortunately it is not worthy to be seen onscreen. As one of my fellow members mentioned, it just mimics Die Hard in certain aspects. This critic has observed it while watching the action-packed film. So many ludicrous and unrealistic moments filled with dark and oftentimes senseless violence. Fr a filmmaker such as Tarantino, most of his films needs it to tell the story or have good character build-up. For …

This film will certainly get your patriotic juices flowing, and it's for that reason that Olympus Has Fallen is without a doubt one of the more satisfying films of 2013. Its plot is preposterous and borderline unbelievable, but thanks to a really great cast, you believe (almost) every bit of it. Gerard Butler, Aaron Eckhart, Morgan Freeman, Melissa Leo, Angela Bassett, Ashley Judd, Dylan McDermott, they all give convincing performances and really give the film a lot of credibility. Credit also must go to director Antoine Fuqua who directs the heck out of this movie; his aggressive approach really ups the stakes and makes OHF a hell of a thrill ride. I was surprised by the action/violence in this, it certainly earns its R rating... villains get what you think they deserve and I just had a …

Everyone involved with the making of Olympus Has Fallen should be ashamed of themselves. With so many tragedies running rampant in the real world, constantly on the news, from bombings, to multiple shootings, to murders. Here comes a film with a talented cast, and a once talented director in Antoine Fuqua who depicts horrific sustained sequences of innocent bystanders, police officers, security guards, and basically every American in Washington graphically being blown apart by bullets, crushed by falling debris from the Washington Monument, to crashing planes, some even into surrounding neighborhoods. This is lurid porn of innocent people being blown apart, with lingering shots of bodies littered all over the place. This isn't an action film, this a depressing, gruesome, …

Tell me this. How is it that a mediocre Gerard Butler vehicle is closer to a proper Die Hard sequel then the actual freaking Die Hard sequel?

Honestly it would be more accurate to call this a Die Hard remake then a sequel. The plot is almost identical to the 80’s classic. I know that there is a Die Hard rip-off coming out almost every year (often two or three,) but they are rarely ever as blatant as this.

Sure there are some differences between this and Die Hard (for example Butler is no substitute for Bruce Willis.) but they aren’t enough for one to not constantly confuse the two movies. Last years Dredd had some similarities to Die Hard, but there were enough differences and twists in the movie so that it could still be enjoyed as an individual film. Olympus has …

Olympus Has Fallen (2013) After a tragic accident, Secret Service agent Mike Banning (Gerard Butler) has been taken off the Presidential Detail and has been given a desk job. Banning finds himself trapped in the White House, just as it is invaded by terrorists and the President captured. Now Banning must use his Special Forces training, along with his Secret Service knowledge to rescue the leader of the free world. While not a perfect film, it is a fast moving, well-paced action film. Butler is impressive and believable as the Secret Service agent who can take a man down with one karate shot. The film has an all-star cast, with Aaron Eckhart as the President, Morgan Freeman as the Speaker of the House, Melissa Leo as the Secretary of Defense and Angela Bassett as the Director of the …
