Pretty darn funny

A surprisingly good film, that uses real life friendships to lift this movie up to "good" status. I think one of the best things that they did was use their real names in this film. It gave the film a small base in reality. One that featured demons and Satan himself walking the Earth, but some reality. The film reminded me a little-bit of Night of the Living Dead. A group of people are trapped in a house while the world ends around them, and the demons are closing in to seal their doom.

BTW, the small cameo the Michael Cera has is hilarious. He plays the exact opposite of what we think he's like in real life, (then again, maybe what we see on screen in this film is actually him, and what we "think" is reality is him acting).

If you're a fan of Apatow (who had nothing to do …

This is the End review

It may not have the respect of critics or even the Academy Awards, film enthusiasts/comedy fans will treat it as gold. Definitely underrated and pure entertainment. This picture is the complete package: a horror, documentary, fantasy, dark comedy with a touch of musical at the end. Everything in this film was just funny, engaging and provocative at the same time. Screenplay, soundtrack, special effects and artists were just brilliant. So many truckloads of quotable smart quotes: "We can get thru this…we can do this together." "There is still hope." "His reckless behavior is bringing us down." "You should not be dishonest with your friends." "F^c&king civilizations’ broken down…you guys so high and mighty you never made a mistake before” "There's a reason we're all here." "It …

Stupid, but funny.

Seth Rogen is a funny guy. And here, along with Evan Goldberg, he crafted not only a funny movie, but a visually legitimate movie.
This is the End is the funniest movie I've seen in a long time. Seth Rogen created something he knew the people would like, because this movie has it all. ALL.
The idea itself is just so funny. Actors playing fictional versions of themselves, including James Franco, Seth Rogen, Jay Baruchel, Seth Rogen, Craig Robinson, Danny McBride, Jonah Hill and many more (WOW! What a cast!).
I loved the way the movie just made fun of itself. They make fun of James Franco because he was Oscar-nominated, so suddenly he's classy and collects art. Jonah Hill is the exact counterpart of his movie roles, he's the sweetest guy you'll ever meet. Danny McBride is… still Danny …

'The Rapture' Never Looked More Fun

There's been almost no funny 'comedies' so far in the year of 2013. But FINALLY, we have one that soars to hilarious new heights! This film brings the laughs... continuous hard laughs. To say this movie is funny is a severe understatement. Here we have six comic stars (and others) playing fictional versions of their on-screen personas, each riffing on themselves and each other. This 'meta' aspect is not the center of the film, however. This story is really about male friendship and group survival in the wake of an apocalypse of biblical proportions. Yes, things do get biblical. Major destruction, including a variety of demonic monsters and even possession, are present. There are scenes of peril and morality comes to play a big part in the proceedings. But don't worry, all of …

This is not only the best movie i have seen so far in 2013, but it is the best by alot. This movie has many different aspects and parts to it, many more than a normal movie. It's pretty ambitious. Above all, it is funny. There is hardly a minute that goes by that the theater was not laughing, myself included. It's pretty craxy and out there but to me it all worked.

James Franco is beyond genius here playing an “version” of his unusual self. Steals the show, even shines brighter than Rogan who is hilarious in the lead.
Small scenes with Micheal Cera and Emma Watson are outstanding as well. Just very unique and well done. And the ending, Spoiler Alert***

if you don't want to know the ending don't read any further, features the Backstreet boys coming back together again, …

Review: This is the End

This is the beginning of promising directing careers for both Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg - that is, if they continue to direct. As they mash together elements of comedy, elements of horror, and elements of action on one big delicious plate, Rogen and Goldberg craft an energizer that is equally hilarious and relentlessly entertaining. It's loosely scripted and structurally nothing more than one crazy situation after another, but it's made with care and above all, Rogen and Goldberg keep the energy high and the laugh-factor at 10.

This is the End is about a group of 6 celebrities trapped in an out-of-this-world situation, as we all know. But the core of the film is really about this friendship between Jay Baruchel and Seth Rogen. Baruchel comes to LA - a place he isn't very fond of - …

'Funniest movie I've Seen in a Long Time

Looneymanthegreat - wrote on 06/12/2013

I’ve seen several abysmal comedies this year. It’s such a breath of fresh air to watch a comedy that’s actually funny that I’m probably making this is The End out to be a lot better then it actually is.

In this movie a group of actors play themselves (or rather: parodies of themselves) and their wacky, hellish, hi-jinks during the apocalypse. These actors all do great jobs parodying themselves, and have a lot of fun in the world those writers/directors Rogen and Goldberg have created.

The jokes are mostly solid, but even the ones that fail are excusable, partially because even the failed jokes are acceptable due to the lunacy of the characters who tell them and partially because there are so many jokes that you barely have time to notice that a joke isn’t funny before …
