"Deadpool" by Yojimbo

A mercenary is diagnosed with terminal cancer and so undergoes a procedure performed by a shadowy organisation that not only cures but also gives him superpowers. Deadpool began as a minor character from the X-Men comics that went on to become extremely popular because of the self-effacing sense of humour and post-modernism that went on to define him and this movie version does a very good job of capturing exactly that. Essentially a superhero film that is a spoof of a superhero film, Here we have is a winning combination of tongue in cheek humour and gory yet slapstick action that reminded me somewhat of Kick Ass. You're probably thinking, "my boyfriend said this was a superhero movie but that guy in the red suit just turned that other guy into a f*cking kebab!" Well, I may be super. But I'm no hero.
Despite the feeling of satiety when it comes to superhero movies, I still had to see this new hero from the Marvel stable. Now, you didn't need much to persuade me to watch it. Certainly not after I saw the revealed trailer last year. Immediately I was convinced that this could become a mega blockbuster. It was so brilliant and witty. Trust me, I was sick and tired of the world of The Avengers, X-Men and Super/Spiderman. 'Deadpool' is the unexpected knockout superhero hit of the year - and for good reason. This movie is just flat-out FUN from beginning to end! I can't remember a moment when I wasn't laughing. Every single joke was laugh-out-loud hilarious! That is very, very rare for someone like me to say. It is vulgar, and often juvenile, but it plays to those strengths in the best way possible. The character of Deadpool has been a comic book fan favorite for his blunt and direct nature towards comic readers. His ability to break the fourth wall comes as a natural progression to comedic spoofing of superhero tropes. He's a loon with skewed morals, a penchant for gory violence, and a secretly tortured soul. This film depicts the title character with absolute one hundred percent accuracy. We …

We actually got a Deadpool movie. Serious!

Ryan Reynolds redeems himself as a credible lead with the outrageously violent and raunchy star vehicle Deadpool. This is proof that style over substance isn't always a bad thing. The plot is the standard stuff you'd expect in a superhero movie. But how often do you see opening credits that make fun of not just the cast but the producers and the director too? How often does a love interest in a superhero movie relish the chance to peg her boyfriend? How many F bombs and dick jokes can you pack into a 100 minute blockbuster? Or Gina Carano actually give a decent performance? Deadpool has all that and more. It's not quite the masterpiece as some fanboys are claiming but it's the Deadpool movie people actually wanted to expected to see and that's good enough for me.

Deadpool, das ist das Äquivalent des Kinos zu Kindern in der Schule, die meinen, es sei ihnen egal, was die anderen über sie denken - genau das aber so laut bemerken, dass jeder es hören kann. Der Teenager, der sich verwehrt "cool" zu sein, aber unbedingt gemocht werden will. Deadpool vermeidet, wie ein Superheld zu erscheinen. Der Film um ihn herum folgt dieser Rebellion jedoch nicht. Kein ganz schlechter Marvel Film, aber eben keine Satire über das Genre. Ein Film, der Spass macht, aber doch sicherstellt, dass hier eine Person vor uns steht, die grösser ist als das Leben. Endlich bekommt Ryan Reynolds die Rolle, für die er wohl geboren wurde: Die Adaption von Fabian Nicieza und Rob Liefelds Deadpool. Deadpool: "From the studio that inexplicably sewed his fucking mouth shut the first time, comes... me!".
One of the greatest anti-hero - the Merc with a mouth - Wade Wilson was once a special forces operative but turned mercenary. After being subjected to a rogue experiment, he finds himself with accelerated healing and transforms himself into Deadpool. Armed with weapons (and a wicked sense of humor) he will stop at nothing to track down the men responsible.
Never have I seen so many fans (or moviegoers), dying to see a character like Deadpool on the big screen; it's a bit like how everyone wanted to see The Avengers on the big screen back in late 2011. It's bad enough that the studios can't seem to get the character right with the disaster that was X-Men Origins: Wolverine. But …

Deadpool is the (Anti) Hero We Need

If there is one thing for certain about Deadpool, it certainly earns that R rating - that, and it's a whole mouthful of fun. Ryan Reynolds (who has been championing a Deadpool film for ages) finally gets his wish and it is worth the wait. From fourth-wall breaking moments, wicked one-liners and brutal fight scenes - Deadpool delivers in a way that is delightfully true to the comics and not afraid to be bad.
The film opens in slow-motion mid-freeway battle - and it's immediate how this is going to go as the opening credits bill the producers as Asshats and the stars as "God's perfect idiot", a "hot chick" and an "entirely CGI character" - plus we also get a reference to Reynolds terrible Green Lantern and his penchant for Hello Kitty. Guys, bring your ladies. This is this year's Valentine's Day date movie. Seriously. At its core Deadpool is a love story. Gory, irreverent, and at one point features about seven gratuitous crotch shots in the span of five minutes, but a love story nonetheless. And the love story is is between Deadpool and his fans, whom he affectionately addresses at various points in the movie and brings into the most intimate points of his life. Lots of intimate moments... some of which we may not necessarily needed to see.
I waited seven years for this movie and happily enough it did not disappoint. The 'opening credits', set to the tune of Juice Newton's 'Angel in the Morning', alone give a good indication of what the audience is in for. The movie takes full advantage of its R rating - …
