About as funny and cool as an unborn fetus

Michael Bay is just terrible.

Admittedly, the first Transformers movie was mildly entertaining, but consisted mainly of loud noises and cars no one can afford. Then the second rolled along... And the third... And now there will be a fourth.
I could write this review on any of three movies, but I picked Revenge of the Fallen, because it is by far the worst. I watched it once in the theater and thought it was okay. Having forgotten about it, a year later I watched it on DVD and couldn't believe the bullcrap that was actually put on screen, financed wholly by Paramount. Here's my theory: They keep making more, because mainstream audiences love these movies. All three movies are in the top 50 most grossing movies of all time, earning back their budget by a billion times. Paramount's …

"Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen" by Yojimbo

The Decepticons return to Earth under the command of one of the original "primes" to restart an ancient machine designed to cannibalise the sun into an energy source. I actually didn't have a problem with the original Transformers film; okay it was big and dumb and was embarrassing to say the least whenever the characters opened their mouths, but it had loads of well engineered action and entertained on a very base level. As such I wasn't exactly expecting high art from the sequel, but this is dumb with a capital D. Not just dumb, but dumb by MICHAEL BAY STANDARDS. It makes Independence Day look like Shakespeare. Bay obviously just made a list of all the ingredients of the summer blockbuster (explosion, car chase, love scene, exploding monument, fart joke, college dorm full of Playboy …

Horrid.

Transformers 2 got a whole lot of backlash back when it was released, so I really was prepared to give it a big beating, but now it's time to review it, I'm finding it hard to even evoke enough passion to do so. Like I'm too disillusioned by the movie industry if this is the kind of film that makes so much money. It's just sad. So I've decided, for once, to compress my thoughts as much as possible, because other than the following points, there really isn't much to say about this film.

First off, the story. What story? Some robots fight, for some reason. It's boring. Also, the plot is just the most bizarre and nonsensical contraption that I've witnessed in mainstream cinema in recent years (and not in a good way). The plot is basically this (may contain some spoilers, though I …

Revenge of The Explosions

"Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen" was a sequel i was waiting for since the really enjoyable and visual stunning original. Michael Bay seemed to be going in right direction and finding a fitting project suited to his talents. Sadly, that is not this case as his sequel is dumb, pretentious, and way overblown. It so overblown that it becomes irratating and mind boggling. Bay is a master of explosions but it seems he forgot about a story and creativity. "Transformers 2" is one big set of explosions and thats it.Things explode that make no logical sense of how they would actually do so."Transformers 2" even manages to be racist with two twin robots who could be one of the most annoying characters in movies this decade. Anytime this movie does something worth praising it ruins it in the …

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen Review

I know this movie got a lot of negative press, but I knew this was the kind of movie where if I was a fan of the first movie, I'd be able to at least find it somewhat good. All in all though, I was really entertained with the end result. And yeah, you may have heard talk about this movie being long, I don't know how Michael Bay pulled it off, but he was able to make this one longer than the first. Bit of a side story, I even had to use the bathroom at one point, but I kept "holding it in," because I was in the last hour of the movie, which is the part that really makes the movie worth seeing. Not everybody will like it of course. If you didn't like the first movie, this won't do anything to win you over, and if you're one for story, there's not that much to really elevate it to a high …

Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen, a Mr. E Movie Review

(Run time: 150 min. - Directed by: Michael Bay - Starring: Shia LeBeouf, Megan Fox, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson)

OK, the advancements in movie technology have come along so far that Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen has brought to reality what I dreamed about as a kid. I mean I played with Transformers and loved the cartoon but let’s face it, this is nothing like I use to experience. And I’m glad it isn’t!

Shia LeBeouf plays one hell of an action hero, vulnerable but tough he brings a cool element to this franchise. I even heard that when he sprained his wrist in real life they wrote it into the movie! The Autobots are cool, witty, and realistic. I think that young kids and old kids alike would agree that this …

Michael Bay took me a little too literally...

Jonzor - wrote on 07/01/2009

Before I get too far into this, I'm going to direct you to read my review of the previous Transformers movie, just so you know where I'm coming from when I talk about this movie.

Now that you've (probably not) done that, let me say that this movie cured my #1 problem with the first movie: not enough robot action. This movie had Transformers fighting each other in spades, and I loved every minute of it. I was literally 8 years old again and Optimus Prime was my hero. I also have this thing about enjoying it when a villian really gets what's coming to them. And I don't just mean that they get beat and the good guys win... I mean like... when the bad guys get ripped into tiny little pieces and you don't have to wonder if that character is going to be back in the sequel. I enjoy the …

Fallen from grace

BryanFury - wrote on 06/29/2009

I'm a little bit shaken up from all the noise of clashing robots but then again to put it in simple terms the movie for me has fallen 2 or 3 notches in comparison with the first one. Maybe the most valid and probable cause is they tried to squeeze everything into a two and half hour sequel which for me isn't a good idea at all because you'll lose character development in the process. Also the story for me lacks the all important depth to it which made me care less about the main characters. Yes it was fast paced but halfway through it I really feel like I don’t know what the heck is going on. I get what Michael Bay is all about, big explosions and heart stomping action sequences but a movie like this doesn’t need a scale of 10 on action and 1 on story. What I would have like …

Great

I like robots, which helps me to like this movie. The action was good and the plot was not bad. The movie was funny and kept a good pace so overall I really liked it. I didn't like it as much of the first, mostly as it was surprising to me that the first movie was good and I was expecting this one to be good. I felt it ran a bit long and could have been edited down a bit (Mom almost fell asleep during the robot fight scenes . . . if your someone who falls asleep when ever it is dark and don't like robots you may want to drink a soda fist). Finally, I'd like to point out that this movie is not actually for small children so don't bring you 4 year old and make me listen to them cry at the theater (it an emotional movie for a child). Thanks.
