Episodic but charming family-comedy. Elisabeth Shue is so good in this and her younger costars are pretty funny. Some of the situations are kind of dark outside of a comedic setting. But it gives the movie a edgier vibe than the usual saccharine stuff passing off as children's entertainment these days.

Kind of fun 80's comedy that contains Thor's first big screen debut.

I love this movie. And, I think I love Elisabeth Shue too!

One of the movies I remember most when in reference to my childhood [and when watching this movie as an adult, I realized my parents were not very careful about movies we watched when I was a wee lad], this film is great. Classic Chris Columbus, this film oozes with 80s charm and urban wit. A masterpiece of comedy, adventure, and the outrageousness of comedy that we all love.

I loved loved loved this movie growing up. It came out when I was seven years old and I still watch it from time to time 21 years later. It's a wildly crazy 80s kid adventure flick. When I was a kid I loved the adventure and I thought Elisabeth Shue and Keith Coogan were sooooo cool. Now as I watch it, I relish in the wondersul 80s fashions and trends. A young Anthony Rapp, of Rent and Dazed and Confused fame, brings many funny one liners in this movie that has become a classic in my house.

Yes, this movie is fluff. But it's such pure, unadulterated fluff that it should be labeled as such by the Food and Drug Administration. The plot is beyond realistic and yet that is what gives this film as much charisma as it has to have remained fairly well known among the Disney watching community. There are a lot of people that would familiarize themselves with Elizabeth Shue in movies such as Back to the Future and as Daniel Larusso's girlfriend in The Karate Kid. But this was one of the films that pushed her career into the spot light. The other thing that I get a kick out of is seeing Vincent D-Onofrio as Thor.

One of the many 80s adventure/comedies featuring wacky kids in unlikely situations. Anyway, this is neither great nor horrible, but sits right in the comfortable middle. Meaning if you don't see this, it isn't a big loss.
