A mismatch of "Blade Runner," "Jurassic Park," and references to the Super Mario video game franchise. I have no clue what this uninspired and murky blockbuster was supposed to be before it was so clearly rework into a Mario Bros. movie.

"The worst thing I ever did? Super Mario Brothers. It was a f***in' nightmare. The whole experience was a nightmare. It had a husband-and-wife team directing, whose arrogance had been mistaken for talent. After so many weeks their own agent told them to get off the set! F***in' nightmare. F***in' idiots." I miss Bob Hoskins.

Terrible adaptation of one of the greatest video-game franchises. Nothing at all like the source material.

A terrible film although there are three good actors in it and the scenes where the 3 of them are together is actually enjoyable, but the rest is just bad. Poorly done action scenes, copied art directions, odd creatures that are just ugly looking. Does not have the slightest resemblance to the games, and does not have even an ounce of fun that the game can give you. This film is just bad.

Great video game franchise turned into just a mess of a movie. Too dark, too weird and just not very fun. Set the bar low for video-games-turned-movies, so much so that no one tried to make another for years to come.

A fun movie that could have been better. This is one of the first of the movies made from videogames and it suffers for this and is a little lacking. However, it is still a fun adventure for lovers of the game. Also, Bob Hoskins is great as Mario!
