This is your basic Whoopi Goldberg comedy. She plays a hooker who has to pretend to be a nun, with the standard "fish-out-of-water" hijinks associated.

Dumb and formulaic comedy in which trashy Whoopi Goldberg and a bunch of nuns teach each other life lessons. It couldn't be more predictable if it tried.

This is a comedy built around as silly premise, but it carries itself with charm, wit, and energy. The music is also a standout that makes the film worth watching.

I usually hate Whoopi, but Sister Act is pretty entertaining, what with the singing nuns and all. It's amazing what a little lounge singing can do for a Catholic choir. Implausible? Yes. Fun? Kind of. Good enough one time anyway.
