Mixture of Romancing the Stone + Ghostbusters? Meh

Mishmash of adventure, comedy, and romance with a dose of hippie New Age mysticism thrown in. The last element could had been fleshed out better, and make the film more interesting than the broad screwball humor.
I don’t know why Cyndi Lauper was cast as the lead actress. Maybe Madonna said no? Jeff Goldblum’s slightly better since he’s at least done comedy before. He works as a find straight man to the shenanigans which ensue as soon as he and Lauper arrive in Ecuador. The best performance is from Peter Falk who has equally dumb lines but he sells it like it’s one of the Neil Simon spoof films he made in the seventies.
It’s not a bad premise to cross the exotic intrigue of Indiana Jones’ adventures with the eerie atmosphere of Ghostbusters’ creepier moments. The film itself is not good but there are a few laughs. You just have to wait for it.
