May These X-Men Days Never Pass

'X-Men: Days of Future Past' is the best I've seen from this (mostly) great franchise. I flat out LOVE this movie! What makes this sixth sequel so awesome for me to place it above the rest? Everything! I do not have a single criticism. I only thought that 'X-Men: First Class' gave me everything I wanted to see in an X-Men film. There's much more to be had, it seems. 'DOFP' is packed to the teeth with characters, action, drama, emotion, and humor, but it never feels crowded or overstuffed. Every single character and plot point has a purpose in telling a completely compelling story. Not one part feels out of place or unneeded. It's a meaty endeavor, set at a fast pace, that plays smoothly over a perfect runtime. This huge time-travel epic is conceived with precision. The story combines all the best aspects of the series thus far and makes them cohesive, without being convoluted in the slightest. The stakes are raised so high right from the start that it makes the mounting tension more palpable and the resolution urgent. It also adds to the dramatic dynamic between characters, as we watch them attempt to resolve their differences for the greater good while battling their own demons. A great understanding is reached, for all hero and villain characters, as to why the've chosen their side and if they will change that stance. It goes to show how the decision of one (or a group) can have major consequences. In this case, the fate of humanity. No biggie. There exists an underlying universal theme of hope carried through to an emotionally satisfying end. All of those dramatic points are more than good enough for a normal film, but this is also a giant action extravaganza. And HOLY CRAP does it deliver in that aspect! Easily some of the best 'comic-book superhero' action ever put to screen. The fights are immaculate in their spectacle and riveting in their excitement, bolstered by flawless special effects. It's everything I wanted and more! I am beyond pleased at the immensely joyous experience I had while watching this film! I will be revisiting this terrific X-Men outing in many days to come. Simply amazing! I would bestow a 5/4 star rating, if it were possible.
